A few of my favorite things #9

A few of my favorite things #9

1. SP Chocnut

Super sized Chocnut!!!
Level na siya, Chocnut now comes in SP size! The Chocnut I used to by comes in a pack of 24 pcs per pack, whereas the SP chocnut is only 16 pcs per pack. It's super "sisik" with the choco-nutty goodness of chocnut but with chewy bits of what I think is nougat mixed inside. Each bar is approx. 2.75 in x 0.75 in big and make for a mouthful of goodness everytime. : D

2. Bread Talk Cakes

Bread Talk's gorgeous cakes in display.

I think Bread Talk makes lovely cakes, just the right "frou" with the the right touch "kawaii" : 3 It's a nice alternative to Red Ribbon and Goldilocks cakes - para maiba naman. Hope to be able to try out all the flavors. Dear, dear, dear... : D

3. Buko Juice

Nothing beats ice cold fresh buko juice.

Sure there are :sanitized" easy to drink buko juices available in tetra packs in supermarkets but buko straight from manong cart is what enjoy drinking best. All the nutrients and goodness of the buko, as well as added "flavorings" from the surroundings makes this the best thrist quencher available on the streets hands down.

What about you? What are you craving for now?

Post below, I'd love to hear about it.

A few of my favorite things #8: Keep Calm and Watch Movies

This is Di Dilights entry to the "Keep Calm and Watch Movies" blog contest.

Growing up I would always look forward to movie nights with my family, my dad would set up his own makeshift movie theatre at home - complete with surround sound, projector screen, and popcorn. We would turn off all the lights, play the laserdisc player, and turn the sound way way up until the windows would tremble and shake at every explosion. Fun times!!!

When asked what movie made me fall in love with watching movies there was no one answer I can think of. And so I came up with my must watch list!

1. Jurassic Park

I'll never look at a glass of water the same ever again.

http://gifsoup.com/view6/2578047/jurassic-park-o.gif

2. Total Recall

The scene where his eyeballs bulge out and almost pop-out will make you speechless.

http://heavyeditorial.files.wordpress.com/2012/08/tumblr_m3td422tac1qc42hdo1_500.gif

3. Fifth Element

This movie was out of this world and advanced for it's time, a visual eye candy feast for the senses. It's comedy will make you laught till your sides hurt and the action keeps you on the edge of your seat.

http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m8k6w6iGnR1rrpsjuo1_500.gif

4. Men In Black

A movie to remember, unless you've been flashed by the shiny light.

6. Mrs. Doubtfire

Getting hot flashes just got a new definition.

But the one that sold me to watching movies would definitely have to be

7. Back to the Future

A memorable, feel good movie!

today my favorite would be...

8. Thor!!!

Sorry Ic! :p (pic from HS Story)

Now, I watch movies with my hubby, he is an avid movie watcher. He watches to destress after a long work
day at work and to relax on weekends. He's the guy who would always initiate a movie night and invite a group of people to watch, esp. when there was a new film out. Scheduling these trips would usually take a bit of effort and coordinating but it's well worth the effort.

Before we would usually call up the cinema, check the newspapers, or go online to check movie schedules. These tools helped us check which theater we should head out to in order to get home as early as possible, as we usually had to carpool home.

How you can help: Typhoon Yolanda Relief

In light of the devastation that Typhoon Yolanda has left in the Visayas I urge everyone to pray for the people and situation there. Give what you can and offer what you can. Now is the time to act and to help. I am sure that we will be able to rise up and move forward from this with God's mercy and grace!
Here below are some ways you can help.

Send items via Philippine Airlines

from the  FB Page of PAL

(Updated as of November 12, 2013)

Philippine Airlines will start the free airlifting of critical supplies and relief goods for victims of typhoon Yolanda in the hardest hit areas of the Visayas region following the resumption of operations of some of the affected airports.

The PAL Humanitarian Cargo Grant, which is open to government agencies, SEC-registered foundations, non-profit and charitable organizations will cover the following necessities: medicines, medical supplies, hygiene products; toiletries such as new underwear, and ready-to-eat products such as dried fish and dried fruits, which cannot be readily sourced in the affected areas.

To help ensure the efficient processing and delivery of goods, PAL said that only donors under the said categories, duly-registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission, will be eligible to avail of the grant.

To maximize cargo space for these critical necessities, the grant will not include products that are either already distributed by the local government units or available near the calamity-stricken areas. These include canned goods such as sardines, noodles, and bottled water.

PAL will fly the goods on a space availability basis.

Donors only need to contact the PAL Foundation at telephone numbers (02) 851-2980 or (02) 8526090 (telefax) or email palfoundation@pal.com.ph and provide their name, the contact information of the consignee, and a list of the contents of the shipment.

The PAL Foundation will then contact the donors to inform them whether their shipments are eligible for free airlift.

Alternative to Google Reader

#1 Feedly

Today marks the 2nd day of the death of Google Reader... :( *tear* but fret not! There are lots of better options out there. Sure it won't have the simple interface that the old reader had... because it's so much more interesting and useful. My first choice out of all of the new readers out there would be feedly.com.

Feelings... Nothing More Than Feelings

MASTER YOUR EMOTIONS

We hear about the importance of developing our IQ or Intelligence Quotient all the time. But not enough emphasis is being made on the importance of developing our EQ or Emotional intelligence Quotient.

Emotional intelligence is the ability to recognize one’s moods, feelings and impulses, and process them into right thinking and action. It goes hand in hand with spiritual maturity (1 Corinthians 3:1-3).

Disappointments are inevitable. And how we handle our emotions especially in difficult circumstances says a lot about our emotional maturity, and ultimately, about our spiritual maturity. Parents must teach their children how to face disappointments and not to shelter them from it. The problem is, even some adults are unable to process disappointments properly. They make sinful decisions that hurt themselves, others and God.

Emotions are not necessarily bad, but they can be negative. We don’t have to deny them, but we need to learn to process them, to master them. I we don’t master our negative emotions, they will master us. Take Saul for example. When David won the face-off with Goliath, Saul eyed him with jealousy instead of praising God (1 Samuel 18:8-9). And when he saw that God was with David, Saul became fearful of him instead of just thanking God that he had such a man on his team (1 Samuel 18:28-29).

Five Characteristics You Need to Excel at Work

Five Characteristics You Need to Excel at Work
by Rick Warren

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as though you were working for the Lord and not for people.” (Colossians 3:23 TEV)

The Bible identifies five characteristics of people who excel at what they do:

People who excel work with enthusiasm. Regardless of whether the job is big or small, give it your best. Great performers give their best effort, no matter what the size of the audience: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as though you were working for the Lord and not for people” (Colossians 3:23 TEV).

People who excel sharpen their skills. They never stop developing, growing, learning, and improving: “If your ax is dull and you don't sharpen it, you have to work harder to use it. It is smarter to plan ahead” (Ecclesiastes 10:10 TEV). It takes more than desire to excel; it takes skill! Remember: You're never wasting time when you’re sharpening your “ax.”

People who excel keep their word. They are reliable. They can be counted on to do what they say they'll do. They excel because people of integrity are rare in our society: “Everyone talks about how loyal and faithful he is, but just try to find someone who really is!” (Proverbs 20:6 TEV)

People who excel maintain a positive attitude. Even under pressure, change, or unrealistic demands, they don't allow themselves to become negative: “Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life” (Philippians 2:14-16a NIV). And remember: “If your boss is angry at you, don’t quit! A quiet spirit can overcome even great mistakes” (Ecclesiastes 10:4 NLT).

People who excel do more than is expected. This is a secret that every successful person has discovered. You'll never excel by only doing what is required. Jesus said, “If someone takes unfair advantage of you, use the occasion to practice the servant life. No more tit-for-tat stuff. Live generously” (Matthew 5:40-42 MSG).
The Broadway lyricist Oscar Hammerstein once told the story of seeing the top of the Statue of Liberty from a helicopter. He was impressed because of the incredible detail the artist had sculpted on an area that no one was expected to see. In fact, the Statue of Liberty was completed with no idea that man would someday be able to fly over the statue!

When you’re tempted to cut corners, thinking, “No one will ever know,” remember that God is looking down and sees everything.
